MEMORIAL CELEBRATION FOR RICK “FISH” JANES

Hello to all the fans of Rick Janes writing, art, music and all around point of view. Saturday, June 22, 2013 there will be a celebration of Rick’s life and work at The Gallery Cabaret, 2020 N. Oakley, Chicago, IL. Party starts at 5:30 pm and goes till closing time. There will be food and music (cash bar). If you will be in the Chicago area you will be welcome to come share photos, stories, and memories with all of Rick’s friends, family and fans. And please spread the word about the new name of Rick’s website. I will continue to maintain the site and also to post new stuff periodically. There will be music by and about Rick posted in future that you can hear and purchase. There will be political and philosophical statements from time to time. It’s taken a while to get adjusted to Rick’s passing, but the work continues.

Thanks to all the humans out there. Stay strong.

Val (Rick’s partner)

Memorial for Rick Janes

Richard Janes, creator of Fishink.us, writer, poet, cartoonist, great blues guitar player and all around brilliant, funny and wise person, my beloved partner of almost 20 years, passed away Friday, September 28, 2012. It was a long, slow decline followed by a fast, peaceful and mostly pain free exit from advanced cancer. I will miss him every single day of the rest of my life. There will never be another like him.

I will leave this site active and try to post once in awhile, but meantime, please continue to enjoy the archives which are full of great articles, cartoons and music Rick wanted to share with you all.

He was a great and good man, and the world is a sadder place without him. In tribute to the work he did on this site for the past few years, if you are an American citizen, please vote for Obama and as many progressive Democrats as you can. If you are not an American citizen, please talk to any that you know and encourage them to vote Democratic.

Peace and blessings to you all.

Val

Arthur Davis, Republican (what else?) candidate for the U.S Congress from Illinois, claims:

Joseph Smith founded the Mormon religion.

Garrison Keillor is a sensible man who spends a lot of time in Minnesota.
