Unsubstantiated rumor is that composer Neal Hefti was grabbing-the-floor stoned when he wrote this annoying brain-killer. Whether that’s true or not, musically, “The Batman Theme” really is a ripe piece of flaming crap left at the cultural doorstep in 1966, the year the “Batman” TV show premiered.
