Big news on the billionaire front: Writer J.K. Rowling is no longer one of them. The author of the “Harry Potter” series (plus a recently announced new book, which will be targeted to adults), whose net worth was once valued at around $1 billion, has reportedly given away so much of her fortune that she’s dropped below the billion-mark. Rowling, a one-time single mother who had to rely on government benefits to support her family, has made a second career out of philanthropy and given away around $160 million of her fortune, including roughly $16 million to a multiple sclerosis research clinic in honor of her late mother.
